Japanese Art Festival Guests

Among the treats of the next Japanese Art Festival is the presence of 6%DOKIDOKI - the self-proclaimed Kawaii Store that has been operating in the Harajuku area of Japan since 1995.

6%DOKIDOKI director Sebastian Masuda has a background in drama and contemporary art. He opened 6%DOKIDOKI in Harajuku and has become a champion for Kawaii culture. The shop concept is "Sensational Kawaii" and Sebastian is keen to develop original and exciting items and events.

Yumi

Yumi Yamamoto is kimono designer who travels the world promoting and enjoying Japanese fashion culture.

Yumi has taken part in exhibitions in Shibuya and Paris and is very excited to bring her ideas and designs to the Japanese Art Festival this August.

Hibiki

Hibiki has been playing the shamisen from the age of 20 and now performs and teaches. As well as peforming in Japan, Hibiki also plays internationally, including performances in Poland and South Korea.

In 2005, Hibiki joined indie rock group Cazicazi. This group combines traditional Japanese flute and shamisen with a western bass and drum rhythm section.

While living in England, Hibiki wants to introduce the Tsugaru shamisen to an international audience by teaching and performing as much as possible
